Description: esonance welcomes Dr. Bruce Browne back to Portland to conduct this French musical feast! Because our Artistic Director Katherine FitzGibbon will be away on sabbatical from Lewis & Clark researching German requiems in the Third Reich in Berlin, we have the wonderful opportunity to work with Bruce Browne, retired from Portland State University, Portland Symphonic Choir, and Choral Cross-Ties. Dr. Browne will take us on a musical journey through exceptional French literature, designed to mirror an extravagant multi-course French meal. The main course will consist of movements from Poulenc’s anti-war Figure Humaine and works from Janequin to Ravel, but we promise to have some fun “amuse-bouche” to tickle your musical palate: French folk music, music from Haiti, and even some French chansons by none other than Leonard Bernstein. In true Resonance style, we are pairing each musical course with visual art projections, selected by Lewis & Clark art professor Benjamin David.

Title: The Andrews Brothers (Broadway Rose Theatre)

Description: Mistaken identities, madcap humor, and some of the greatest songs of the 1940s fill this hilarious musical comedy. It’s 1945 in the South Pacific, and The Andrews Sisters are scheduled to headline the big USO show, but when a flu outbreak quarantines the girls and they fail to arrive at the big gig, three soldiers find themselves giving the performance of a lifetime! Songs include “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Slow Boat to China,” “Shoo Shoo Baby,” and “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree.” The Andrews Brothers is complete with slapstick comedy, old-fashioned romance, and nostalgic music.

Description: Set at the Amalgamation Holiness Church where the congregation is made up of eccentric and quirky Appalachians and God-loving southern believers, deserted husband Coleman seeks out his estranged wife Nancy. With the help of attorney Rogers Canfield, Coleman tries to bring her back to his loving arms. But Nancy has fallen for Preacher Obediah Buckthorn and has been sucked in by the allure of The Church. Things get exciting as Buckthorn and his cadre of oddballs find deliverance in a life-threatening ritual.

Description: Derek Sheen, Mike Drucker, and Travis Vogt are geeky, funny and on tour! These three affectionate, doughy, shut-in comedians are spreading their mirth up and down the west coast. Nerd out and join them at their very special Portland show! The S.U.M.V. are:

Travis Vogt:
He is the co-creator Steel of Fire Warriors 2010 AD, Adventure Buddies and The Shotgun Brothers, all of which can be seen on Funny or Die. Travis has headlined the Comedy Underground and performed at/in Bumbershoot, Sasquatch, The Seattle International Comedy Competition, The Olio Festival and the Bridgetown Comedy Festival. Also performed with many somewhat famous people and a few actually famous people.
Mike Drucker:
With his sharp jokes and unusual topics, Mike has been lucky enough to write for places including Saturday Night Live, The Onion newspaper, The Onion News Network on Comedy Central, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, McSweeney’s, Nintendo, College Humor, The ESPY Awards, and the PBS Mark Twain Awards (TBS). His writing on and off television has been featured in Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, and was nominated for Time Out New York’s Joke of the Year. He has also appeared on television on ESPN, Comedy Central’s The Watchlist, Saturday Night Live, and a segment on comedy on Inside The NFL.
Derek Sheen:
Derek Sheen is quickly becoming a favorite of audiences all across the U.S. with his unique approach to hilarious and very personal storytelling. ‘Raw’, ‘Dirty’ and ‘Audacious’ are just some of the words used to describe his brand of “True Confession”-style comedy! Derek Sheen has been called “A human hug” by journalist Lindy West of The Stranger Magazine and Guardian UK. He was also, recently, the feature of a New York Times article! Derek hosts the highly regarded podcast: “Delicious Mediocrity,” with his friend and fellow comedian Douglas Gale (recent guests include Andy Dick, Rick Shapiro, Rory Scovel and Andy Haynes). He’s featured at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, Sasquatch, as well as comedy clubs all over the country, performing with Brian Posehn, Jim Jeffries, Arj Barker, Rory Scovel and Nick Thune.

Super Ultra Mega Virgins Comedy Tour is a co-production with Action/Adventure Theater.
